Web Preferences


Web Preferences is an online service provided by Timetabling Solutions for schools with a current Software Maintenance Agreement who are using The Timetabler Version 7TE.  The Web Preferences module allows students to submit their subject preferences online, removing the burden of having to enter student preferences into The Timetabler manually.

Once a school has their student and option information in the Student Options V7TE module, then all that is required is to download and complete the Web Preferences Registration Guide found on our website.  Each student is given a simple instruction guide with a unique user name and password.  Selections are entered online between dates specified by the school.  An authentication slip can be printed and signed by the student's parent or guardian.  The preference information is then automatically read in The Timetabler V7TE.

To test run Web Preferences, download the sample access guide which will allow you to access Web Preferences, submit subject preferences and print preference receipts as the trial student John Smith.


5 easy steps is all it takes!

Step 1.  To register you need to have access to Student and Option information in The Timetabler V7TE Student Options Module.  The information contained within your Student Options file will be used by Web Preferences to automatically enter student and subject information so it is important to ensure this information is up to date prior to registering.

Step 2.  Download the Web Preferences Registration Guide from our site which establishes the various parameters, messages and instructions you wish your students to receive when entering their preferences.

Save the file to your desktop leaving the file name as supplied.  You will be informed once the download is complete and you will then need to select the option to ‘Run’ the program.  The Web Preferences Registration – InstallShield Wizard will then start.  Follow the instructions to install the Registration program.   Once complete you will need to run the registration form by going to the Windows Start menu, selecting All Programs, Timetabling Solutions and Web Preferences Registration.  This will start the Web Preferences Registration Guide.  Follow the instructions and enter the required information.  Once this process is complete, locate the zip file you created during the Registration process - [School Name]_WPReg.zip, and email this file to Timetabling Solutions.

Step 3.  Timetabling Solutions records the submitted Registration details and sends an email back to you within 1 week containing a personalised access guide for each student that was listed in the registered Student Options Files (*.sof).

Step 4.  You must then distribute the personalised access guides to the relevant students so that they can begin entering in their subject preferences.

Step 5.  Students enter their preferences via the internet according to the parameters and instructions set by you in the Web Preferences Registration Guide. Once the closing date for entering selections is reached, Timetabling Solutions will return to you, within 3 working days, the registered Student Options Files with all the preferences that were entered into Web Preferences.
